DBT
DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY

Marsha Linehan developed dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) over 25 years ago based on her own experiences with borderline personality disorder, her study of evidence-based treatment, and her merging of dialectical philosophy and mindfulness practice (way before it was cool).  DBT has tons of useful acronyms (RAIN, HALT, PLEASE) to help you remember-- in the heat of the moment-- what to do.

MBSR
MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION

Practicing mindfulness has been shown in randomized control trials to improve mood, reduce stress, and stress-related illness (even heart attacks!).  The 8 week structured approach of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) was developed at a medical school. You can try this free full course or just sample the exercises.
